Couple-to-Couple Workshop
What to Expect:
Married Therapists facilitate couple-to-couple workshop, to explore common couple stressors/barriers (i.e. communication, money, intimacy, parenting, work, and in-laws) as a group, to promote a healthy understanding of forming a secure intimate relationship.
The participants may feel accepted at the community level and the couple’s problems can be viewed as a common struggle for many other couples. The group serves as a safe laboratory for each partner to receive empathy, support, and insights from other couples in the community.
Art therapy interventions and effective psychotherapy strategies will be combined and delivered throughout the workshop.
Participants:
No more than 4 couples
Workshop Time & Location:

Mondays 7-8:30pm PST
Agenda
Week 1:Evaluating Relationship Pain Points
Week 2:Detecting Patterns & Themes of Conflicts within Each Couple
Effective psychotherapy strategies, e.g., Reverse role-play
Build insight into each partner's behaviors, thoughts, and patterns
Explore how other couples work on these themes
Expand perceptions of the assumptions in the relationship
Expand knowledge of problem-solving skills
Week 3:Being Aware of the Inner Child
Explore your own inner world
Explore how each of your upbringings has shaped you
Practice how to share the soft/vulnerable inner parts with your partner
Practice communication/expression without judgment, while building connections with your partner
Practice how to give and receive compassion with the partner
Practice how to nurture your inner world, and build more strength in yourself, which will benefit your relationship as well
Week 4:Effective Communication Skills
Learn effective communications skills and self-regulation skills, e.g., active listening skills
Gain insight into personal needs and needs from the partner
Explore unmet needs/fears from childhood that are impacting the current relationship
Increase awareness of triggers and blockers in the relationship
Practice setting healthy boundaries
Practice taking accountability for your own actions
Practice effective communications
Week 5:Growing Together as Adults
Reshape each partner's perspectives and set realistic expectations for each other
Practice how to apply effective self-regulation skills during conflicts
Practice non-violent communication

Workshop Facilitators
Ie Run Jung, LPCC
Licensed therapist and licensed art therapist. She uses art therapy as the new language to deepen the understanding of the self, expand one’s emotional expression, etc. Her practice emphasizes empowering the client; fostering self-awareness & self-compassion, building a safe & nurturing environment for clients.
Nan Zhao, LMFT
License marriage and family therapist. He specializes in treating depression, anxiety, substance abuse, work/career-related stress, and intimate/family relationship issues.
